will there ever be a airplane/submarine combo invented? This would enable an airplane to stay submerged?
until ready to attack. it would be the ultimate stealth airplane. I know the Navy is already testing a UAV to be launched from submarines. I would like to see the same concept, but make it totally independent of other vehicles. This would allow an airplane to covertly stay just off the coast of an enemy with firepower ready to be unleashed, instead of always relying on aircraft carriers.
I am talking specificcally about fighter type aircraft being submerged for short periods of time with vey little crew. There would be no need for massive life support details such as kitchens or sleeping quarters.
can you have a lighter weight material than steel to build the frame? It would still need to be strong enough for the water pressure , though.
I'm sure it can be done, but how well it functions would be a question...
Example: Today's camera, mp3, text messaging cell phones...they are crappy as cameras, crappy as mp3 players, too hard to text message efficiently, and too many options make using the phone complicated.
Sometimes, it's best to stick to one objective and do it extremely well rather than try to do everything and just be mediocre at it.
