I'm under the impression that once my A-school is almost complete I can fill out a "dream sheet" of possible destinations for the naval base or Aircraft carrier I'll be sent to...But the list I have to choose from is only bases where my job is needed..I know AO's are in Iraq and Kuwait right now, if neither of those are on the list can I request to go there?
Is there any chance that I could be flown to a ship that is already in the gulf?

choose a west coast carrier/or squadron...once it deploys to the gulf they send some people TAD to the local airports but not on a permanent basis...but don't hold your breath, those billets go to senior sailors

Are you a Royal Rangers leader? If not, I would imagine you should not have access to the leaders' reference books - if these contain the answers - since you'd need to do the work on your own. I hope I'm not misunderstanding your question!
