Directional Gyro

Would it be possible to fly an instrument approach without your Artificial Horizon & Directional Gyro?

Years ago, before Mr. Sperry invented that thing, there was "needle, ball, airspeed". According to our experts here this is apparently suicide, but anybody who's been trained is able to shoot such an approach.

Airplane Questions...?

What are the power sources for each of the Basic-T (altimeter, attitude indicator, vertical speed indicator, airspeed indicator, turn coordinator, directional gyro) instruments? What are he 3 ways to shut down an engine? When the control yoke is pulled back: is the tail lowered, is the speed reduced, and does it increase the attitude without increasing the speed? Is doing that a Stall Recovery technique? Where shoukld the Airspeed Indicator needle be to lower the flaps? What should be coordinated with the aileron when banking, resulting in the ADVERSE YAW EFFECT? And before reducing the RPM out to the Green Arc on the Tachometer, what should be turned on? If the carburetor heat is on, is the engine air filter working? That's all. Thank you in advance.

vertical speed indicator:static pressure
airspeed indicator: ram air and static pressure
directional gyro: electricity to drive gyro.
3 ways to shut down an (Piston)engine:
1.Move the mixture lever to the idle cutoff position, diverts all fuel received back to the pump inlet or aircraft fuel supply
2.Move the fuel selector to the off position.
3.Turn magnetos off .
When the control yoke is pulled back:
1.the tail is lowered, causing the nose to rise
2. speed will be reduced if power is not increased
Is doing that a Stall Recovery technique? No. quite the opposite.
The Pilots Operating Handbook for your aircraft should be consulted with regards to recovery technique. Leading with power could worsen the effect of the stall or even flip the aircraft over.
Where should the Airspeed Indicator needle be to lower the flaps?
Not until the the speed is with in in the while ark of the airspeed indicator
What should be coordinated with the aileron when banking, resulting in the ADVERSE YAW EFFECT?
The rudder, (actually it is coordinated to counter the adverse yaw)
before reducing the RPM out to the Green Arc on the Tachometer, what should be turned on?
In a piston engine that has a carb (vs fuel injection) turn on carb heat unless the poh recommends not doing so (Piper Cherokee)
If the carburetor heat is on, is the engine air filter working?
Working is not the proper term. the induction filter is by passed using air heated by the muffler in the carb heat box.
