will civil air patrol help me get into USMC OCS?

i am a master sergeant and flight commander in CAP and i want to be an officer in the marine corp. I already know allot about the military and i have been to encampment but i still need some information on becoming an officer. semper fi

Anything and everything you do in CAP as a cadet helps you in your life. If you really wanted to do USMC OCS, I would suggest getting near perfect grades in high school, an excellent ACT/SAT score, recommendations from influential people and finally, get as far in CAP as possible. You didn't say how old you were, so I don't know how much time you have left, but I would shoot for a minimum of Mitchell Award. If you can, go for your Earhart or beyond. Also, and special activities you can sign up for, do it. Here in California, we have Cadet Survival School. Try Hawk Mountain or some other highly competitive school such as National Honor Guard Academy. Anything you can do to set yourself apart from everyone else. The more you can show on your application that you are a "go-getter" and high achiever, the better off you will be. The added military experience of CAP will also improve your chances. All the branches of service love having people like CAP cadets join. Its less they to teach you. Good luck!

Can members wear their Air Force uniforms to CAP?

We have a two prospective members for our Civil Air Patrol squadron, who are interested in emergency services. One is an Air Force captain (coming in as a senior member). The other is an AS300 in the Air Force ROTC at the local university (coming in as a cadet or flight officer). Here is my question: Should they join, can they wear their Air Force blues uniforms to Civil Air Patrol events requiring the blues uniform?

If you can provide sources for your answers (i.e., AFMAN-x for example) that would be great as well.

The below is taken directly from the CAP Knowledgebase:

"CAP members who are current active duty or retired military wear CAP uniforms during CAP activities. CAP members who are active, reserve, and retired members of the armed forces are treated according to their CAP status when acting in a CAP capacity. Note: It would be appropriate for a non CAP member guest who is being honored, either active or retired military, to choose to wear the military mess dress uniform at a CAP wing banquet or other function."
