Do YJ Jeeps (1989) have soft tops that fold down?

We recently got my son a 1989 Jeep YJ with a hard top with full doors. With summer coming along he of course now wants a soft top. First of all, any suggestions on what kind/model, etc. to get? We have looked at several stores on the internet and it is pretty confusing with all the different ones available. I believe we will have to buy the hardware (poles) for the top and the fabric cover (actual top) both. Does this fold down or will it have to be taken off just like the hard top each time he wants to go without a top? If this is the case, wouldn't a bikini top work better because of the portability and price? His has the standard front roll bar behind the front seats but not another one in the very back as we have seen in many pictures. I don't really know much about Jeeps or any other automobile for that matter - so I'd appreciate any help or guidance you could provide. Thanks! Jeanne

This is the one you want.

It folds down, goes back up fairly easily.

Bikini tops with dusters and windjammers will work but are not completely waterproof.

I would stick with Bestop, they are the OEM suppliers of softtops to Chrysler Jeep, and have been for many years.

Need guidance on Diet and Workout plan?

I am 26 weigh 248 and 5' 11''. I am ready to lose this weight. In highschool i swam everyday I was Captin of the swimteam and weighed 175 at the same height. At the moment i am not very active. I work at night at a Wine bar. My target areas are Chest stomache and butt. Probably the same for everyone. Any help or suggestions on where to start. I dont drink sodas often maybe 1 or 2 a week. I dont smoke. I have acess to a gym also. Thanks for the help if you need anymore info please feel free to ask

Below are some tips to get you started.

1. See your doctor! Before starting any major weight loss or fitness routine it is always important to check with your doctor so that you have realistic goals and to ensure you have no underlying physical conditions that could cause problems (i.e. heart problems)

2. Keep a food and activity journal for a week writing down what you do, what you eat, when you eat, and how you feel when you eat. This will give you a good baseline to change your lifestyle and help you identify problems such as emotional eating. I would do this before seeing your doctor; that way both the doc and you have a clear image of the starting point.

3. Drop the soda altogether. Try replacing the soda with seltzer water (and maybe a touch of 100% juice if you need flavor).

4. Don't buy junk food. If the junk isn't in your home you will not eat it.

5. Get active. Since you have a gym, go use it. If the gym has trainers and you can afford it, then schedule a few sessions with a trainer to help create a regime and correct your lifting form. You will need both cardio and resistance work to get healthy. The other way to go is to join a class you think you would enjoy.

6. Treat yourself. Once or month or so do not be afraid to treat yourself to one really good sweet or other craving. Go for quality rather than quantity; buy the 3 dollar individual cookie rather than a pack of cookies. By treating yourself, this will help you avoid binging on a craving later on.

Good Luck!
