Pilots AVaition

Im stuck between being a teacher or air traffic controller?
i have 2 years left of HS and i think the tie needs to be broken pretty soon. Ive learned a lot about each but when i think i can decide on one i come back to the other.one thing is i used to want to be a dentist or teacher than it was pilot or teacher than sales person or teacher. i think you get my point. im thinking since i keep comming back to teacher that welll thats what i should do . but than i think well i like avaition and thats what i should do.im totally at a standstill PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE !! thanks
You've got plenty of time to make your decision, just calm down a bit. You've got 2 years of HS left. To be a teacher you'll need 4 years of college and to be (realistically, outside of career military) a controller you'll need a 4 year (specialized CTI) degree or a 4-6 year military enlistment as a controller. If you go to college to be a teacher and change your mind and want to be a controller (or the other way around) the first two years of college will 99% apply to any other degree out there. The first two years of college are almost all basic classes in general subjects any other degree requires. If you go military as a controller and say it isn't for you, GI bill, take college classes in the military and you'll have a degree in teaching in no time. At a minimum you've still got 4 years to figure it out. There is absolutely no rush.
Career decisions are very personally based. People can tell you what their career is like, but nobody can say X career is what you should do. My best friend happens to be a high school teacher. As I type this, he's on week two of a three month long paid vacation. I'd love that and he knows it, but I couldn't deal with his work environment. My personality just wouldn't mesh well with what he has to do. On the other side, I'm a controller. I get to enjoy a salary he will never get close to and yes, frankly he'd love to recieve my paychecks, but what I deal with isn't something he's suited to either. We made our choices. The once thing we (eg both your main trains of thought) enjoy are nice early retirements and pensions. Neither is a bad choice if you'd like to spend your days on your hobbies or just for fun second career in your 50's.
Feel free to message me. That teacher friend of mine is visiting me in two weeks and we can both tell you how our lives are if you're truely interested. After that though he's going to kill time on random road trips to the desert... lucky guy...

It's never too late, but make sure your finances are in order as it will not be cheap.
Check out the resources here first and then you will be able to ask the sales people intelligent questions about their courses and curriculum: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/
