Screws AViation

I am having second thoughts about my future career, need advice please.?
My uncle is a pilot and not so long ago, I decided that I wanted to be one too. I remember reading and hearing about how the job market for airline pilots was at its peak. Airplanes were being manufactured faster than pilots could be found for them. Since the demand was so high, pilots were being hired with only 600 or so hours whereas it took my uncle about 1700 hours. This was about 1 or 2 years ago when I made my decision for my future career.
Now, with gas prices soaring and the recent news of United Airlines preparing to eliminate about 950 pilot jobs, I am beginning to reconsider whether I should take this path or not.
I was planning to go to college this fall and the cost is about 50-60+ grand for the aviation degree. I do not want to go into it, finish, and graduate just to find out I've been screwed out of 60 grand. It is still not too late for me to consider another career, one that is cheaper and is a sure thing.
Can anybody give me advice?
It depends on how much of a passion you have for aviation. Are you the kind of person who would be happy working with planes REGARDLESS of the job? Like repairs or engineering or even designing? All of those jobs are high paying and they aren't scarce either. The millitary would love someone like you. If you aren't interested in any of those options and want to try a completely new career path then it's definately too late. Wanting to Change your career as a senior would be too late. But if you've only been to school for two years then you should be able to change you major no sweat. And you can google different jobs and find out the pay range and such.

Glue It or Screw It ?
Should we send the bill for the aviation disaster to Iceland? Or do they not pay their bills anyway....?
2nd time theyve managed to screw us over.
Norway was badly damaged by industrial pollution from the UK, and their lady leader came over to have a word with Thatch about it, but Thatch was just rude to her.
We'd have a nerve asking for compensation from Iceland for a natural event for which they had no influence.
