Senior AViator Wings
I want to be a Military Pilot?
I'm about to start my senior year in High School, and I want to become a Military Aviator, preferably rotary wing in the Marines or the Coast Guard.
I'm fairly sure I should go to college first, Virginia Tech and enroll in the Naval ROTC program, or maybe the Coast Guard Academy.
I've taken the ASVAB, and my AFQT score is 95. Is that good enough to be praised by the military?
Which route should I take?
I know what OCS is, Officer Candidate School, all Military Pilots must first be commissioned officers. My father is a CO, A Lt Col in the Marines. So I come from a military background, which is why I refuse to join the AF or Army.
So-- College (Major in what, aeronautical engineering?)--Take ROTC -- Go to OCS -- Then TBS -- Then Flight School?
Just go to college and get your degree. You do not have to go through ROTC to get a commision. You can still enter the military after graduating and become an officer.
Go for something challenging and technical, like engineering.
You may consider getting a private pilot's license also, in addition to your degree. It will give you some good experience and will make you more competitive for a military pilot position.
