i have lost my hp installation cd i went to download.com but i dont know what to look for i've tried everythin

if this installation disc is for a printer or cd writer or whatever else and if plug and play is not working then you can go hp.com and look for the driver/download there. even for other hp products they have a pretty user friendly vast database of drivers and softwares for whatever product you might need.

How To MANUALLY Install PHPBB With cPanel



I reinstalled XP on my com and now there's no sound. How do I get my sound back?

I decided to do some housekeeping on my com by reinstalling XP Pro using an installation CD. Afterwards, there is absolutely no sound being produced by the com. Worse, the computer does not recognise any sound output device. Any solutions to this?

It a driver issue. Right click on MY COMPUTER and select MANAGE. From this console you can select DEVICE MANAGER. Look for anything with a yellow question mark or an exclamation point. This indicates there are no drivers or incorrect drivers for a given item.
If the sound is on the motherboard, check the manufactures site for the make/model of system you have.
If it is in a PCI slot, crack the case and see who made it and what its SN or model # is. Go to their site and dload the drivers.
You can try right clicking on the item and select UPDATE DRIVER and see if the OS can located something for it.
