Simple Gas

Is there a simple method of measuring gas exchange in a leaf?

I need a method of measuring the volume of gas exchanged in a given amount of time for one individual leaf. If you know of a method to measure gas exchange for the whole plant, I could probably work with that too. I am doing a school project to look at the relationship between leaf surface area and gas exchange volume, but I don't have access to fancy laboratory equipment. Thanks in advance.

This is just an idea. You should ask your teacher about the practicability:
The pH of water changes with the concentration of solved CO2 and it`s easily to measure.
If you put your plant into a closed, not to small jar out of clear glass with, let me say 200 ml of distilled water, shaked, to mix it with the air, you check precisely the pH of the water with those special-indicator- papers at the beginning of your test, wait that time, you are given, remove the plant so, that nearly no gas comes out and shake the jar again.
The concentration of CO2 should be lower now and you can calculate the volume from the quantity.

PS:
The easiest way would be, to measure the CO2-concentration with wet indicator-paper directly in the air, but that does not work, i`m afraid.

Gas prices too high.? Heres a couple of simple ways to save energy and help bring down the prices.?

I live in Sofia Bulgaria where there are 25,000 taxis. Most of these run on methane gas and petrol so althought petrol prices have risen their fares have stayed the same.Why not buy an electric car? there are some very good ones on the market now. And everything we could all do to help. Switch off all the lights,TV sets and computers when we are not using them. Every little thing helps and if we all did this it would save billions of watts of electricity

I'm doing my bit Michael.I got rid of my oil fired central heating and replaced it with a wood pellet boiler.The pellets are the byproduct from sawmilling.I put double glazing in and changed to a much more economical diesel car .Next thing I'm doing is solar panels when my son gets back from Oz as that's what he's been doing out there for the past few months (he'll know all about them).I changed all my lightbulbs too but I'm checking on the stories about them containing mercury so I might do a u-turn on that one.You Michael?
