What ultralight manufacturer do you recommend and why?
I'm thinking of getting into ultralight flying.
What ultralight manufacturer do you recommend and why? I'm looking at real planes (rigid frame and wings) not those lawnmowers strapped to hang gliders.
Please include the manufacturer's link, if possible.

There is so many ultralight aircraft to choose from don't let someone tell you which one to buy, do the research yourself. And there are so many variables. Do you want tandem seating or single seat, metal or fabric, also consider where your parts will be coming from and how long the company has been in business. That aside I personally would build the RV-12 from Vans Aircraft. It is far from a flying lawnmower. Aluminum construction is one of the easiest and most enjoyable forms of building an aircraft also.

Based on a Kawasaki KZ1000J engine (engine weighs about 125#), if you left it in second gear, the output speed would be 2362 RPM at engine speed of 7500 r pm (maximum of power curve). This would function for your application. However, getting flight approval for this setup might be difficult.
This engine, rebuilt should cost about $3000.
