What is better water cooled or air cooled vw transporter?

I am wanting to buy a vw transporter t3 and I am wondering witch one to buy, air cooled or water cooled.

Early 80's water cooled were nightmares, you will find nobody to work on it or even help you work on it. Get a mid 70's aircooled. Then source the 1972-1974 heater boxes for more exhaust options. the exhaust for the later ones are expensive and there really aren't many options for replacement. Go here.
