Aircraft Adapter
Is it safe to plug my MacBook into the 110 volt power on the airplane?
I'm flying with Northwest Air on a 757-300.
Their website says: "In-Seat AC 110 volt power outlets are available at all seats in the BusinessElite cabin and the first 10 rows of Economy on all of Delta's international 747-400, A330, 757, 767-400ER, and 777 aircraft. In-Seat AC 110 volt power outlets are also available at all seats in the First Class cabin of Delta's domestic 737, 767-300, and transcontinental 75x aircraft. No special adapter is needed for these AC power ports."
I'm in Economy but think I can get to one of these outlets to recharge my Apple MacBook 4.1. The transformer on my power cord says: "Input 100 - 240 V ~ 50 - 60 Hz, 1.5A Output 16.5V -- 3.65A ADP-60AD B"
yes it is safe. your charger can take a voltage as low as 100v, so 110v is well within your range.

Could Airborne Internet Work?
Imagine the type of internet that you bring with you, not the mobile broadband with fair speed that the cell phone company offers you, but high speed internet comparable in speed to Cox and Qwest. That is the goal that I want to achieve, and it seems pretty achievable. I plan to have a business operating 3 test aircraft to insure that there will always be coverage in a test city to prove my concept. The aircraft would pick up signals broadcasted from the devices, probably a USB adapter, or depending on strength, an external adapter. What would be problems with this idea?
The aricraft would essentially be one big wireless router in simple terms
A USB device picking up signal from land based devices wirelessly, sounds a whole lot like an air card to me. Im curious, what are the planes for?
