Case Crankcase
Cracked crankcase cover.?
On my Honda XR80 on the right crankcase cover i have a small crack about an inch away from the bolt.I asked my dad if he could weld it he said it wouldn't work.Is there any cheap metal sealant that could seal the aluminum case?
the quick and cheapest fix would be putting [epoxy putty] over the stress crack,bare in mind that it will not look the best but will serve it's purpose.another option would be brazing it,or the final option would be to buy another.

the other site sells the epoxy putty,and tells you a little about the product.

5 Axis Crank Case Machining
My engine has something wrong with it.?
I was driving to work, heard a small noise like air was just let out of something, pull into work (actually coasted in), and my engine light comes on. I popped the hood open and there is a hole in my crank case cover on top. I am no mechanic, believe me. Just by reading this any idea what it could have been? Threw a rod? Since it was on the top of the crankcase would I be able to have that replace fairly cheap if I can find one in a junk yard (the casing)?
One note...my car didn't lock up, my oil light never came on either. I didn't find any "debris" from the engine anywhere either.
2001 Dodge Intrepid V6. And, yes, i believe it is the valve cover. It the just in front of and to the left of my carberator.
The hole is on TOP of the engine...right when I open my hood i can see it directly in front of me. I can see a chain-like device when i look at the hole.
your timing chain broke and busted the valve cover....100%positive.... should be on the driver side........get rid of this car the 2.7 engine you have is nothing but trouble and very costly to repair ..more than likley you have bent valves in the cylinder head now ....because this is a zero tolerance motor...some of these so called mechanics on here dont have a clue whats going on
