What will happen to Arizona if Kurt Warner retires?
The Cardinals lost to the Saints last night, and now on azcardinals.com, It shows that Kurt Warner, the best QB Arizona has seen for years is debating if he will retire or not.
If he dosent, then we have another great year coming for us Cardinals.
If he does, then what will the Cardinals do? Get a QB in the draft? All the good ones will be gone by the time the Cardinals choose. And Matt Leinart definatly won't carry us anywhere.
Do you think he will stay or leave?
Colt McCoy for Arizona maybe?
Well, luckily Arizona plays in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. With such company as the niners, Seattle, and the joke that is the Stl Rams I don't see them falling too far next season without him. Warner had an awesome year and with the competitor he is, I don't see him hanging it up just yet.
But let's say he does retire, Leinart was never really given a fair shot to start and who better to bring him into this league than a vet like Warner (a la Bret passing the torch to Rodgers... Montana to Young... )? Leinart should have the play book memorized by now and while watching, learning, evolving over the years with Warner as his mentor is something not to dismiss so easily. If you're going to judge him from what you saw in preseason or his rookie year that's not being fair either because 1.) Arizona had no line his rookie year (even Warner can attest to that) and 2.) how much time do you think he gets to spend with the first team? Answer: none!
As for the draft is concerned, I'm not too big on putting all my hopes on unproven talent anymore. So much of the time those high draft picks turn out to be big busts... at least more often than usual (and those who don't take time/patience). With McCoy, Tebow, or even Clausen out of ND (my sleeper pick), it's just too hard to tell. However, if they draft a rookie, they better do it the proper way and let him sit and learn for at least a year. With that said, doesn't matter what they do; Leinart will have to be the answer for the time being if Warner does decide to leave. And to that, I have to say that I'd much rather have him than say... Jamarcus Russelll! lol
