Cowling was born in Hackney, London and studied mathematics at Brasenose College, Oxford from 1924 to 1930. From 1928 to 1930 he worked under Edward Arthur Milne. In 1929, Milne had no problems left to ask his student to work on and appealed to Sydney Chapman, who proposed that they work on an article on which he was working that dealt with the Suns magnetic field. Where should be the best GPS antenna location?

Where is the best location for a GPS antenna for a high wing aircraft? The engine cowling is positioned on the center of the wing and it's the highest point of the aircraft. Should I install it on top of the engine cowling?

Note: the aircraft has piston engine

If you have a high wing, with the engine mounted above the wing, I would put the GPS antenna near a wing tip or back near the tail. It does need to be on an upper unobstructed surface and away from other interference. An engine cowling would not be a good place.
