Exhaust Gaskets

i have a 1992 f150 with the 4.9 and i just changed the exhaust manifolds?

i also changed the intake and exhaust gaskets. after i did that the truck idles up real high when it reaches operating temp. can anyone help?

when you replaced the intak/'exhaust manifold gaskets did you also replace the gasket between the two manifolds ?the gasket basically below the carb where the two manifolds meet--if you did not--when you tightened up the combo manifolds the gasket between the two manifolds probably got distorted and leaking--with engine running spray starting fluid or carb cleaner where these two manifolds meet==

on exhaust gaskets, does the shiny metalic side go towards the block or towards the manifolds?

They can go either way as long as they fit correct. they will both be hot on either side so it will and does not make any differance which way they go
