Ifr Atc
vfr in class a? best way to do?
I have a turbo arrow and like to fly at fl200 because it gives me a cool buzz. However flying ifr and talking to atc all the time is a buzz kill. If I turn off my transponder's mode c is there any way for atc to know what altitude I am at? Thnx
You like flying at the maximum certified altitude of 20,000ft for the Turbo Arrow? Must have a nice new engine and turbo. What is the TIT at that altitude? Do you have the intercooler?
Anyway above 18K you have to be IFR and if you really were flying at that level you would know the rules and the reasons for them.

IFR trip from KMBO to KEKY with ATC communications
when you are flying under an IFR commercial flight, and you are switching from one to another ATC-controller..
....., when shall you give the new controller not just your altitude, but also heading and speed? any rules for this?
ATC will coordinate the hand-off with each other before you are told to switch frequencies, so what I do is just give them my call sign and altitude.
the only exception to this is if the previous controller gave you a heading vector that the new controller might not know, so in this case I would recommend heading as well as call sign and altitude.
