Magneto Drive
will a flywheel magneto ,produce a spark spinning in the opposit direction to the arrow.?
have a old outboard,needs a left hand prop/failed to get one.if i can reverse the motor (two-stroke ).it would drive a right hand prop,that i have,and make use of it.must admit its a tinkering type of project.i have allready altered the pull start to aim the engine in the right direction. but it wont spark with the mag turning against the direction arrow. any advice would be appreciated. ps points system
The position of the magneto points is the critical factor. The points should open just past the magnet's passage of the coil. And, this has to occur around TDC of the piston. This will be tough to achieve without a lot of Rube Goldberg tinkering. Also, many gears don't like running backwards as their main task.
