Pusher Puller
I've got a 1986 Chev Silverado that keeps burning up fuel pumps. Have ha 5 in the past year.?
Today it went out again and it was just replaced 3 weeks ago. Someone told me to mount the pump closer to the fuel tank as it is a pusher not a puller and it did'nt work. I've got no ideas on what it could be. Any help would be great.
Could be a series of issues...
1. Improperly vented fuel filler cap. Replace the cap. A vacuum in the tank could cause the pump to work overhard delivering fuel.
2. Sediment in the tank could be either destroying the fuel pump or stopping up the filter causing the pump to fail.
3. The wiring to the pump could be faulty either shorting intermittently or delivering the wrong voltage.
