Where could i get an infrared receiver for my remote control?

i wired my bass guitar amp into my stereo system, but the only problem is, that when i wanna turn the system off. the amp stays on.

so i wanna put a sensor in that will pick up signals from my remote so that way the Amp will turn off with my stereo.

any suggestions were i could find something that could help?

By far the easiest way is to use one of those mains-electricity IR controlled sockets. You plug the IP controlled socket into the wall and the bass amp into the controlled outlet.

The IR-controlled socket has its own IR remote and you could simply tape the two together. That means you have to press two IR remote buttons... one for each remote. This has the immense benefit that you do not have to do an electronics construction whatsoever. Radio Shack or Circuit City will probably sell the IR-controlled sockets.

Any other approach will involve a reasonable amount of engineering.

You will need to turn off the stero system first, to avoid a 'bump' when the bass amp switches off. Reverse order for switching on!

Where can I find a remote control for a Sony STR-KG700 receiver?

I bought a Sony STR-KG700 home theater receiver as a floor model, but the remote control had been lost. It appears to be discontinued on Sony's website, so does anyone know where I could buy one? I've been told to try a universal remote, but they can usually only control the volume, and many of the features can only be accessed with the correct remote control, so I'd really like to find one. Hope somebody can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

The problem you have is that the remote model number is different than the AV receiver model number. In order to find the correct remote, you need to know what the remote control model number is, most likely starting as a RMxxx (99% of Sony remotes start as RM).

You can try Replacement Remotes ( http://www.replacementremotes.com ), as they will probably have it, but again, you are going to need the model number for the remote, not the AV receiver.

You can give them the receiver model number, and they will look for the remote that goes with it.

Sony says the STR-KG700 Receiver is part of the HTDDWG700 Home Theater system. Amazon has this home theater system, and shows the remote ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B0015HPYE4/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0 ), which is model number RM-AAU024.
