how to fix pull starter on mower that dosent recoil and cord stayes extended?
the recoil spring is either broken or the centripetal clutch is clogged up.
take the 4 screws from the housing and remove the pull starter. if the spring is broken you will hear it rattling around in the housing. go to sears and buy a new one $20.00. if its clogged, use an old screw driver (never use a good tool to dig or pound on) to remove the blockage. when clear the spring will recoil the pull string and you can replace the housing and mow the day away.

I've been fixing generators for 25 years. Not really sure which manufacturer makes the LG series but a good place to buy parts for commercial gens is the local rental yard. For consumer gens the local lawnmower repair shop.
