Valve adjustment terminology question..."3/4 turn down from zero"?

I have been reading the the Chevy Full-size repair manual, there is a terminology used to adjust the valve lash. The book used "3/4 turn down from zero". The engine is 77 V8 350, I believe it is hydraulic lifters used. If the 'zero' means the push rod no longer turns, what is the "3/4 turn down" means? If I understand it correctly, "down" from "zero" will make valve open instead of keeping a gap between the rocker and valve, am I right?

'Zero' lash occurs when tightening the adjusting nut and the pushrod no longer rotates by hand.
With 'hydraulic lifters' the 3/4 turn down will center the push rod in the lifter bore. With a socket turn the adjusting nut 3/4 of a turn to the right after 'zero' lash.
