Strut Seal

Car Strut replacement?

The car shop, Good Year, said I need to replace Front Strut because the seal is leaking. It could not be re-sealed, has to be replaced. The total cost is about $670. Should I do that? What is the consequences if I do not replace it? They said I should replace the rear one as well even it is not leaking because it called maintenance. I feel they just want to get money.

your car will be bouncy when going down the road eventually if they truly are leaking,don't know what kind of car you got but that sounds a little pricey,price check the parts yourself and get a couple estimates on labor from a couple shops that have a decent appearance, do some research on the shops you choose and find your best one with price in mind as well as their reputation,a good reputation is worth paying a little more in my opinion

i wouldn't replace the rear ones, they are not leaking and if they aren't worn out then that would be the equivalent of changing your oil every 500 miles when you know its good for at least 3000

Chrysler.....do I have to remove springs to replace front struts?

Same Chrysler(89 New Yorker) as in previous questions about valve stem seals..............do I have to remove the springs to replace the struts in the front?..........just so you know it's the Mark Cross edition and has load levelers in back.

Take the old strut assembly to the auto parts store where they will change it out.DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF
