Can you place two different canister filters in a tank?

I have a 55 gallon and I currently have a marineland c-220 canister filter. I want my water extra clean for discus so I was wondering if I could place another canister filter in there?

YES, but you should keep in mind two things while you do:

One: A single canister filter is going to be enough to support your load of Discus. When people say that Discus need extra clean water, they are referring to good care by the owner and frequent water changes to remove nitrates and other elements while they are still at low levels. You will not find much of a difference between one and two canisters. because if you are doing your discus right in the first place the tank will not be heavily stocked. Filters do not remove nitrates, nor do they remove rotting waste from the tank until the actual filter is cleaned out (waste in the filter is still waste in the system).

Two: If going with two filters, keep in mind that discus like calmer water, so two full size canister filters can end up generating too much flow - just something to keep in mind when you choose the second filter.

Just because other people use two filters does not mean an automatic yes - everybody has a different setup and different fish. Consider these answers but also use your own judgment and common sense based on your fish and your setup.

Which place is better for a nice relaxing vacation by the ocean, for two, Myrtle Beach or Gulf Shores?

This will be my first time to the ocean...so if there is some place nicer then these two places feel free to let me know about them as well.. Thanks:o)

Of the two places you mentioned, Gulf Shores has fewer distractions and is a little less touristy. Myrtle Beach is a big hub of activity, so that might not work if you're just trying to relax. As mentioned previously by racegal, Charleston, SC is a great alternative. Lots of beaches, plenty of history, and some fine dining. And you don't have to stay in Charleston, if you'd like to be away from the action (as much as it is action). Edisto Island and Seabrook Island are both beautiful and peaceful locations, and they're only about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston, for when you're in the mood to do the tourist thing.

If you can provide more details about your trip [point of origin, what you're idea of relaxing is (adrenaline junkies think skydiving is relaxing), etc.], I'm sure we can help you nail down the perfect trip.
