What were you thinking when you smoke your very first cigarette?

Was it experimental, peer pressure, or what?

I accepted a cigarette from a boy That I liked who smoked.Had no clue what the heck I was doing. SO I would say peer pressure. I wanted to look "cool". Now ,sadly, I am addicted to cigarettes...Started at 13 and am now 29.SO Kids!!! IF YOUR READING THIS PLEASE DO NOT START!!!!

Experimental Philosophy (Hardcover)

Experimental Philosophy (Hardcover)

$109.77

Experimental philosophy uses experimental research methods from psychology and cognitive science in order to investigate both philosophical and metaphilosophical questions. It explores philosophical questions about the nature of the psychological world - the very structure or meaning of our concepts of things, and about the nature of the non-psychological world - the things themselves. It also explores metaphilosophical questions about the nature of philosophical inquiry and its proper methodology. This book provides a detailed and provocative introduction to this innovative field, focusing on the relationship between experimental philosophy and the aims and methods of more traditional analytic philosophy. Special attention is paid to carefully examining experimental philosophy`s quite different philosophical programs, their individual strengths and weaknesses, and the different kinds of contributions that they can make to our philosophical understanding. Clear and accessible throughout, it situates experimental philosophy within both a contemporary and historical context, explains its aims and methods, examines and critically evaluates its most significant claims and arguments, and engages with its critics.

High Pressure Experimental Methods

High Pressure Experimental Methods

$501.42

Modern high pressure cells are compact pieces of experimental equipment used in investigating physical properties of materials under extreme conditions. This book surveys the apparatus available for high pressure studies. It examines pressure measurement techniques at extreme values and reviews experimental setups for studies involving the interaction of high pressures with low and high temperatures, magnetic fields, and shock waves. Topics covered include optical properties, infrared spectroscopy, electron spin and nuclear magnetic resonance. This comprehensive manual will be valuable to solid state chemists, geophysicists, and other experimental scientists working on properties of materials at very high pressure. Author: Eremets, M. I. Experimental Research in Financial Reporting

Experimental Research in Financial Reporting

$117.39

Experimental Research in Financial Reporting examines the use of virtual worlds as nextgeneration laboratories that can help experimental researchers implement features of complex institutions that are not feasible in traditional laboratory settings. This new technology, originally developed for online computer games, lends itself very well to complex economic settings with large numbers of agents interacting through complex institutions for long periods of time. These virtual worlds provide the opportunity to construct settings whose complexity approaches those that accounting researchers wish to study. Since the settings are virtual, researchers can use experimental methods to control and manipulate institutional features (like accounting regulations) and environmental features (such as industry forces) to allow clear causal inferences with limited reliance on econometrics. Experimental Semiotics (Hardcover)

Experimental Semiotics (Hardcover)

$271.69

In the early twentieth century, Ferdinand de Saussure envisioned "a science which studies the role of signs as part of social life". About a century later, a science has emerged that is very much in the spirit of that envisioned by de Saussure. Researchers who are developing this science, which has been labeled Experimental Semiotics, conduct controlled studies in which human adults develop novel communication systems or impose novel structure on systems provided to them. This volume offers a primer to Experimental Semiotics and presents a set of studies conducted within this new discipline. The volume is an ideal text complement for an advanced graduate seminar and it will be of interest to anyone who wonders how humans assemble and develop new ways to communicate with one another.Originally published in Interaction Studies 11:1 (2010).

Experimental Uncertainty Analysis

Experimental Uncertainty Analysis

$68.51

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The purpose of this introductory article is to discuss the experimental uncertainty analysis of a derived quantity, based on the uncertainties in the experimentally measured quantities that are used in some form of mathematical relationship ( model ) to calculate that derived quantity. The model used to convert the measurements into the derived quantity is usually based on fundamental principles of a science or engineering discipline. The uncertainty has two components, namely, bias (related to accuracy) and the unavoidable random variation that occurs when making repeated measurements (related to precision). The measured quantities may have biases, and they certainly have random variation, so that what needs to be addressed is how these are propagated into the uncertainty of the derived quantity. Uncertainty analysis is often called the propagation of error. It will be seen that this is a difficult and in fact sometimes intractable problem when handled in detail. Fortunately, approximate solutions are available that provide very useful results, and these approximations will be discussed in the context of a practical experimental example. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 70 Publication Date: 2009/12/11 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.16 inches

Experimental Human-computer Interaction (Hardcover)

Experimental Human-computer Interaction (Hardcover)

$220.33

"Experiments that require the use of human participants are time consuming and costly: it is important to get the process right the first time. Planning and preparation are key to success. This practical book takes the human-computer interaction researcher through the complete experimental process, from identifying a research question to designing and conducting an experiment, and then to analyzing and reporting the results. The advice offered in this book draws on the author`s twenty years of experiencerunning experiments. In describing general concepts of experimental design and analysis she refers to numerous worked examples that address the very real practicalities and problems of conducting an experiment, such as managing participants, getting ethical approval, preempting criticism, choosing a statistical method, and dealing with unexpected events"--

what is 'experimental pich ' in aircraft piston engine propeller?

'experimental pitch' is also called 'ideal pitch' or 'geometric pitch .
The concept of this is not very clear to me.

Your terms are all related, but at least two aren't the same thing.

Geometric Pitch is the distance the propeller would move forward in one revolution if there were no slip. (Imagine the propeller slicing through a solid.)

Effective Pitch (a term you didn't use, but thrown in just for clarity) is the distance the propeller actually moves forward in one revolution.

Ideal Pitch is the distance the propeller would have to move forward in one revolution in order to cause the propeller blades to be at a zero lift angle of attack (and thus produce no thrust).

Experimental Pitch appears to be another term for Ideal Pitch, although it's not a term I had encountered until you brought it up.
