Way Intercom

Looking for way to set up an outdoor camera at my door where I can see who is there from multiple locations?

One to two cameras to be used but I need to see from more than one location in the home. Don't really need to record anything, just need to to see who is there. I already have an intercom buzzer but I would like to see who is there from the bedroom, from the kitchen, from the great room and basement.

An outdoor wired camera is best. You could also use a wireless camera but remember most of them need still have to be plugged in. Wireless cameras also present other transmission problems.

Which ever you choose you can feed the signal in to your home cable using a modulator. It simply takes the camera signal and gives it a channel, usually at the higher end, say in the 70's. Then you could turn on any TV to that channel and see who's there. Each camera could be modulated to a different channel. If you have cable boxes or digital cable boxes then you need a bypass filter for each as these devices usually block out modulated signals.

Out side of a modulator system then you would have to have a monitor in every room.

How much does an intercom system cost?

Hey, I'm pushing to get my school to purchase intercoms and loudspeakers (like you hear in the halls at public schools) so that way we (the students) have a better idea of what is going on around campus. However, I have to find out how much the intercom / loudspeaker stuff would cost.

Does anywhere know where they sell intercoms and loudspeakers for schools halls / school lightposts, etc, that way I can put it in my proposal. I'll still be looking it up outside of this question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask in case any of you have a better source than I do.

Sorry to say i dont know off hand. I can tell you you should search for a wireless system. The cost of installation of wire system would be very high. An intercom system is almost required for safety reason. Your school should have one.
