Audio Tapes Manual
How can I set-up VCR to TV, both Panasonic, in Pittsburgh PA? Can't get blue screen on TV channel 3.?
I had it set up yesterday, but today the blue screen won't come on the TV. I connected cable to Out Video on VCR and to Ant. on TV yesterday. The manual says use cable with video, R audio, and L audio which I borrowed from DVD and connected up to Out Video, R Audio and L Audio on VCR to In Video, R Audio, and L Audio on TV. Nothing happened when I set both to channel 3. I watched VCR tapes yesterday; today nothing. How could it work yesterday and not today?
I tried using both cables; neither one worked.
I don't have cable. The coax is from VCR (out to TV) and to TV to Ant In. I put both on Channel 3, but maybe it is something else if there is no cable and if I found it by accident yesterday, it played but Channel 3 doesn't give the blue screen.

If connect the VCR with the TV via coax cable (RF to ANT), then the TV needs to be in Channel 3 or 4.
If you connect the VCR to the TV via the yellow video cable, then the TV needs to be in "Video In" or something similar.
(Don't forget to connect audio cables as well)
You only need ONE of the two types of connections.

How to get my home movies onto my laptop?
I have a Samsung camcorder that takes those little tapes (sorry for my ignorance but I can't remember what theyre called). I am wanting to somehow get the videos onto my laptop for editing but have no idea how to do it and my instruction manual has gone awol. Can anyone give me any ideas? I'm presuming I need some sort of lead as I only have the tricolour audio one for playing via the tv. Help!!!

You have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….
Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, Firewire to usb will not work to download video. You might end up with only sound or only video. Your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode. If you have a laptop, make sure your laptop has an empty bay for a card.
The fine print in your manual makes reference to firewire (ieee 1394) connection.

ANALOG
*If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder… or VHS-c...
You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.
Anytime you convert analog to digital, you will lose quality, but loss of quality is better than losing all those old memories.
**Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape
