RAF at War: 1940-1960 (DVD) $20.54 The seven-part documentary series THE RAF AT WAR examines the shifting roles, responsibilities, capabilities and accomplishments of the British Royal Air Force, over the course of roughly 100 years. Subtitled 1940-1960, this box set contains two of the seven installments (Episode 3 and Episode 4) that study what was arguably the RAF`s most critical historical period - the Second World War of the 1940s, when it succeeded at fending off Hitler`s Luftwaffe fleets, followed within 10 years by the Cold War, when the RAF provided nuclear deterrent and helped defend Europe. In this set, Episode 3, FIGHTER COMMAND: A VICIOUS STING, discusses the evolution of various fighters from WWII biplanes, Hurricanes and Spitfighters through the "air superiority" crafts of the 1950s and `60s. Also included are two bonus programs, THE RAF ON DISPLAY and THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. |

No. 100 Group RAF $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles No. 100 (Bomber Support) Group was a special duties group within RAF Bomber Command. It was formed on 11 November 1943 to consolidate the increasingly complex business of electronic warfare and countermeasures within one organisation. The group was responsible for the development, operational trial and use of electronic warfare and countermeasures equipment. It was based at RAF stations in East Anglia, chiefly Norfolk. The group was a pioneer in countering the formidable force of radarequipped Luftwaffe night fighters, utilising a range of electronic homers fitted to de Havilland Mosquito fighters which detected the night fighters various radar and radio emissions and allowed the RAF fighters to home in onto the Axis aircraft and either shoot them down or at the very least disrupt their missions against the bomber streams. Other Mosquitoes would patrol around the known Luftwaffe fighter airfields ready to attack any landing night fighters they came across.
