Will a 429 cobra Jet engine fit into a 2001 Mustang GT's engine compartment?

I have a 2001 Mustang GT that I was thinking to upgrading the engine. I want a 429 cobra jet but not sure if it would fit.

Physically, it would fit. The cobra 4.6L is bigger than that 429 width-wise, and there'd be room front to rear. Legally, there's no way. I would keep the SOHC 4.6 and put some aftermarket goodies on it and call it good. besides, a 70s 429 CJ probably made more torque but less power than the 4.6 you have, while weighing quite a bit more. A head/cam swap, with the basic bolt on supporting mods, can push output to 360+hp and 350+ft-lb, and make a solid 12 second car in the 1/4 mile, with only a 281ci engine. And it will get twice the gas mileage of the 429. It's all-around a better engine.

Ford Mustang?

I just bought this amazing car and needed some advice... it has tiny bits of rust by the door where it opens and one on the finder, what's the best way to prevent this from getting any worse? What are some cheap (have around 1,000 for upgrades) but helpful things to get done to a car that runs well. I already bought a Ford Philco 8 track. I want to keep it ALL original, nothing to make it look non-original. How much would it cost someone to go through the engine compartment and clean/repaint the blue in there?

anyone know how much it would cost to upgrade to front disc brakes? is it safer?

On my '71 I buffed it down with a polisher then waxed. I kept a good coat of wax on it at all times - helped.

I would look at putting in a Pertrnoix ignition.

Do you have a console? Add one if not.
Have hubcaps? Buy the optional mag rims for your year.
Have drum brakes in front? upgrade to the optional disks.
Do you have any other of these FACTORY OPTIONS?

Check your front end, may need rebuilt if it's still original.

Detailing your engine compartment could take a good portion of your spare money. Mainly because you can get carried away with stickers, proper paint scheme, "OK" stamps, etc. Take it to a steam clean and see what you have first.
