Glider

Can an experienced owner of Sugar Gliders tell me exactly what i should be feed my glider?

This is the only thing that confuses me a little. What exactly should i feed my glider when i get her? If someone could link me to a guide or something.

There are lots of things that you can give them. The meat and eggs should be boiled, not processed (no salts and preservatives) and you want to make sure that you're giving them the proper calcium levels when they're joeys (calcium deficiency = leg paralysis). Super fatty stuff like nuts and avocado is cool, just not all the time. Limit those things to treats...in moderation ensures that gliders stay lean. Fat gliders = no gliding. Not everyone gives theirs insects but it keeps them active and entertained.

Leadbeater's Mix is awesome. You can freeze it in ice cube treys and it had all that they need. I give that in addition to fresh fruit, veggies and meat. Here's the recipe. A good book to pick up on glider care is Sugar Gliders: A Complete Pet Owner's Manual by Caroline MacPherson. It is a good book for quick reference and has a great list on foods as well and edible trees and house plants...tips on bonding, toys, vocalization, and behavior.

And the gliders MUST be kept in pairs or groups is debatable and to some owners a myth. They are colony creatures and typically most prefer company but I've stated before that a friend of mine has had his for 8 years without another and as long as you spend more time with the glider, then there shouldn't be a problem. Watching for self mutilation and depression is paramount during their first years though..

How do I remove baby sunblock from my polyester and polyurethane covered glider?

My two year old got a hold of her bottle of SPF 50 Huggies Sunblock and rubbed it into the cushions and on the back of the rocker/glider we have and I have no idea how to remove it!! The cushions do not have removable covers.

How to remove sunscreen from polyurethane -
Wipe up any excess with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia has been added. Rinse well to remove all ammonia and wipe dry.
