Impeller Gear

I'm having a hard time getting to the impeller for a honda 9.9 xtra long shaft. How do I get to it?
I have a honda 9.9 extra long shaft. I know where the impeller is located, but am not able to get there. I have removed the 4 bolts from the seperator extension as well as the 4 bolts attaching the lower section(this section includes the prop) to the seperator ext.
In spite of this I am not able to seperat the sections to gain access to the impellar housing. I have tapped on each section w/a rubber mallet which has not helped. Do I need to do anything w/ the gear shift linkage? Suggestions/instructions/guidance-help please. Thanks.
look at the forward part of the lower unit. see a barrel nut and a lock nut. 10mm. loosen and screw the barrel nut up...that should do it. i usually charge for correct answers. yuk!!

97 BMW 528i overheating?
Here are the symptoms:
Car in park: operates fine
Car in Park with heater on: overheats
Car in drive and foot on brake: overheats. overheats faster with heater on. also, it idles rougher (not to bad but a slight vibrate and it squeaks) the minute i throw it in gear and have my foot on brake.
when the car starts to run hot, the temp will go down as soon as i start driving.
i have replaced the fan clutch twice, thinkking that it was a bad part and i also replaced the thermostat back in august. could it be the water pump even though the impeller is plastic? if so, i still don't understand why it would squeak and idle rougher in gear with foot on brake.
please help me with this! Thanks in advance.
The plastic impellers in the M52 motors are rubbish, once they get hot, they become brittle and break up reducing the effectiveness of the pump. You need to check the impeller, refill the cooling system and bleed it COMPLETELY as they are a pain to bleed. You might want to have a compression test done as they are known for head gasket problems too and this might explain your rough running.
