Question for pilots, regarding POH's and PIM's.?

Hello,
I'm taking flying lessons and my instructor and I are going to plan my first cross country. I need to get an aircraft information book. Should I get a Pilots Operating Handbook, or should I get a Pilots Inforation Manual? What are the differences. Thanks!

Both! The POH is about the specific aircraft. It has weight & balance information, fuel flow, speeds, take off and landing distances, etc. The Aeronautical Information Manual has general procedures for all aircraft. It can be downloaded from the FAA website:
