Problem With Bombadier Engine?

I am rebuilding my Bombadier Rotax 467 snowmobile engine. And I am stumped. It's liquid cooled so i am unfamiliar with some parts. I don't understand what is attached to the carb. It is a circular piece with 2 large ports which are opened and closed by a thin metal half disc ( about the size of a CD) and it's driven by a small gear. Sorry for the bad explanation, it's the best I could do.... Thanks for all answers!!

Trapster, The disc is driven in a circular motion and acts as the intake rotary intake valve. Instead of being piston ported, the Rotax motors for quite a few years have been designed with the rotary valve.

Being a snowmobiler myself riding Polaris machines I'm familiar with these very good motors. If you need to split the crankcase use anaerobic cement. It's a very thin slimy type glue that allows the crankcase to crush back against the crankshaft bearings.

If ever I switched brands it would be a Ski Doo. Actually I'd be still riding Ski Doo's but we have no dealers near by.
