Ski Doo help!!! Any ideas ?

hi, i have a 1996 ski doo formula sls that has a lot of performance modifications, it has crazy power for a 500, i don't know much about that model but i was suspicious about the yellow cover on the engine head...and also i read on some website that in 1996 the formula sls didn't have R.A.V.E. but mine does and what it rave anyway (ROTAX ADJUSTABLE VARIABLE EXHAUST) but what does it do?
