How to fix a lawnmower? (Cord Stuck)?

I have a Silver Service mower the manual push kind. Anyway it seems to have locked up or the cord is jammed. The cord you pull to crank the mower will not budge. How can I fix this myself or do I need a shop? Do I need to take the cover off? Its got gas, nothing stuck in the blades but the cord won't engage.

Dont turn blade by hand - highly dangerous.
Just pull harder. Increased tension in the starter rope = more force on the rotor = start. P.S make sure using petrol not gum residues fuel line from local BP gas station...

1996 Ford Tarus GL service engione soon?

A few days ago my service engine light came on and since then the car has been misfiring and idles very rough sometimes the engine almost dies, according to the service manual it is the catalytic converter but today I noticed that as soon as I began driving and up to 60 mph the car would sputter and sometimes backfire every few seconds. Is their any way that I could check and see if the catalytic converter is bad and causing the problem or would I be better off taking it to the shop?At first the service engine light was staying on but now it comes on and then it will flash until I turn the engine off. Either way I know I do need a new exhaust system and will be taking it to the shop in about 3 weeks unless the car quits on me.

The only time the check engine lamp flashes is if an engine misfire has occured. When was the last time you had plugs and wires? A tune up may be all that is needed. A misfire caused by plugs and wires, will cause the lamp to flash. The converters WILL be damaged if you keep driving with a misfire, but they are not usually a problem on your vehicle. The converters will usually last longer than the engine. The only way to tell what a check engine light means is to have the vehicle hooked to a diagnostic computer. You do not want to have to replace the converters, it will cost almost 2,000 bucks to replace the Y-pipe assembly. The tune-up will be much more affordable. Still, take it in to a reputable shop and have the computer scanned, I am willing to bet a misfire is your problem, not the catalysts.
