Sport Pilot Question LSA?

Anybody out there in airplane land is either has a Sport pilot cert, is getting one. Knows somebody who either has one or is getting one. First question why? business, want to fly? How much it costs how long did it take to get one. Are you finding the resrictions a pain no night flying etc. If your getting an aircraft what kind? The planes I've seen cost as much as a Honda. I'm pondering it.
Correction Not a Honda maybe a Lexis or a used 600s

Caution:
If you have failed an FAA physical, you cannot go on to LSA. A failed FAA is disqualifying for LSA. Better to set aside an FAA renewal and go on to LSA.

Further caution:
The imports, including the Cessna China built entry, are overpriced, and you would do well to focus on US built LSA's. Contact EAA.org for their guidelines on LSA. They also have listings of US mfrs.

Sport pilot license costs?

I understand that it costs around $2900-$3500 to first obtain a sport pilot license. How much does it cost to maintain the license (keep it current) after that? Thanks in advance.
I'm wondering how much money it costs to keep the license current.

Sport pilot currency requirements are the same as other certificates:
You have to have a flight review every 24 months with a qualified instructor, to carry passengers you must have made three take offs and landings within the previous 90 days. (If its a tail wheel aircraft you have to make full stop landings.) That's the minimums. If you are not current to carry passengers you just go make your three circuits before loading passengers.

From a practical standpoint you should try to fly every month but its not required that you do that at all.

Add: To stay current figure on renting at least an hour every 90 days (long enough to do three landings).. That doesn't keep you safe but does keep you current by the regs. Some FBO's will require you to rent more often so that you are safe as well as current.
