Turbofan Engine
Turbofan Engine
dry motoring process at turbofan engines?

hi everybody,
sometimes it is required performing a dry motoring (after a wet start failure for ex.)...say there is fuel in combustion chamber. after the dry motoring, where does the fuel go ? is it wasted or what ?
Thanks and have a nice day everybody ...

There most certainly are combustion chambers in turbo fan engines! The CF6, GE90, CFM56, and many others do not have burner cans!

The fuel that is in the combustion chamber simply evaporates in the large wind created by the motoring compressors.

X24 Engine

X24 Engine

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The X24 is one of the few configurations of Xtype engines known to have been produced. The design consists of a pairing of V12s joined to a common crankshafts, which is lighter than the similar Wblock or Hblock designs, which require two crankshafts. However, none of the existing X24 engines were particularly successful; few saw service, and their production lifetimes were very limited. Postwar developments of the turbojet and turbofan engines apparently obviated the need for large aircraft engines of this type. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Engine Alliance GP7000 is a turbofan jet engine that is currently in service on the Airbus A380. Originally intended to power Boeing Commercial Airplaness cancelled 747500X/600X, the engine has since been pushed for Airbus A380800 superjumbo. It is built around the GE90110B/115B core and contains a Pratt Whitney fan and lowpressure system design. The competing RollsRoyce Trent 900 was named as the lead engine for the thennamed A3XX in 1996 and was initially selected by almost all A380 customers. However the GE/PW engine increased its share of the A380 engine market to the point where as of September 2007 it will power 47 of the superjumbo fleet. This disparity in sales was resolved in a single transaction, with Emirates order of 55 GP7000powered A380800s, comprising over one quarter of A380 sales (as of September 2007). TURBOFAN ENGINE

what is the difference between turbofan engines and turboprop engines?

Turbo Prop engine will have (like the name says) a prop like a small plane would have. A turbo Fan engine has a big fan on the intake side of the motor (Think Big jet engines) If you need more information go to Howstuffworks.com and search for both turbo fan and turbo prop.
