Wing Euro Sport
Do you agree : Soccer getting physical, defensive and boring ?
Soccer is more physical, defensive and boring then ever.
The media pundits know this but they do not write about it because that would conflict with their interest of promoting the sport in order to sell soccer. Basicly the game suddenly changed in 2004 when FC Porto won the Champion's league and Greece won the euro. Coaches immediately started thinking that playing defensive leads to having a winning team. The following evolutions over the last couple of years can be noticed:
1) teams play with only 1 real center forward. This was not the case even in 2002, teams were playing as 4-4-2
2)there are less passes between the mids. Switching passes (when u switch wings) have disappeared from the game
3)there are no more Beckham style crosses from the wing; there are only "small punts" from the edge of the box
4)the concept of patient build up followed by clever threw ball does not exist.
5)There are very few lateral passes. instead passes are speculative and forward.
Soccer and boring? Sorry sir but you don't know nothing about soccer then. Soccer will never be boring. NEVER.

why were sydney crosby and the pens allowed to stay in the cup race?
now, we know that the nhl is run by the canucks. its headquarters are in toronto, the league is controlled and manipulated to suit the canadien ego, style of play, etc . . .
this is what dictates the outcome and all that leads to it. therefore, reason why crosby was reluctant to follow protocal to shake the hand of a euro captain. the worst thing that happened to the wings last year was to sign the guy who snubbed the pens and the canadien hockey establishment by signing with the euro/detroit redwings.
last thought for the day, bill mcreary as lead ref in game 7. give me a break. i see no other ref more biased to the clutch & grab, obstruction style of play so endeared by the canucks. not one obstruction call as far back as i can remember. break it down. use your mind. final analysis, precisely why hockey is not a vastly popular sport in usa. the rules can be manipulated to suit a desired outcome. better luck next time nhl.
Although i dont agree with all the comments and opinions, I do agree that the NHL had a helping hand in Pittsburgh winning the cup. Dont start all the stupid "stop cyring comments" Im not a Red Wings fan or Pittsburgh. Im a hockey fan plain and simple! Ive been watching hockey and playing for the last 18 years of my life and i have never felt worse about the NHL. The simple facts are that the Penguins were given every chance to win the cup. The schedule was stupid. The top team recieves home rink advantage, how do you get an advantage if the NHL gives the TV rights to NBC, who need the first two games back to back. Even with this Detroit overcame and won both games. Then the games in Pittsburgh had the normal 2 day break.
The "too many men" missed call, that allowed Pittsburgh to score, 23 seconds! Four refs..... give me a break. The none "slash" call on Cleary's break away that should have resulted in a penalty shot for the Wings. Malkin not being suspended for his end game antics with Zetterberg. Oh and the best one. After the Wings dominated the first 15 minutes of game 7, Pittsburgh ices the puck, no whistle, Pittsburghs first goal! Hockey is a game of chances, if your giving more chances to score then the other team, more then likely you will win.
So if you ask me, im amazed Detroit won last year. This year just shows you theres no way you can beat the NHL two years in a row!
You can say that a penalty is only a penalty if its called. OR, you can see thru that and see which team would make the NHL the most money if they won.
And to all the Crosby lovers, one thing, Bobby Ryan can skate circles around Cindy.
