Rarely is the landing in Phoenix a smooth one. The thermals make for some pretty bouncing landings. I fly pretty frequently, and Phoenix has some of the more interesting landings that I've been through.

Questions for airline pilots....?

I am a high school senior and am currently pursuing my private pilots license and am exploring career options. I love flying and recently flew in an airline aircraft. I decided that my love for aviation and traveling would make this a great career for me, I just have a couple questions that I would like answered by an airline pilot. Does the career get old, or is there something different every time? Do you fly the same route every day? And, do you have to move and live close to a major airport as your home base? Thanks in advance for your answers....

Yes it gets old. Same crap from passengers, agents, the company all the time. After the door shuts and you're air born things get better though.

Routes are based on the bid package, which where I work is like re-inventing the wheel every month. Some places are smarter, most places are smarter, and you can with enough seniority, go to the same place until you get tired of it.

You can live wherever you want to, friend of mine works at another airline and has a pilot based in ATL, living in South Africa.
