Restarted computer during bios update. Terminal?

My P5N-E SLI motherboard began doing a bios update upon turning on the the machine. It appeared that the update was no longer responding. I therefore restarted my computer. Now my computer no longer boots. I cleared the bios by taking out the battery and moving the jumper back and forth. That did not help. First is there any ways I can try to fix this or could I have done serious damage to my board?
It did not post, just a black screen.

you shouldn't have remove the battery!
im not sure, but replace the battery and install windows xp sp2 cd if you have one.

ask best buy or some tech person.

I have a terminal server running.Now I know that I can boot from a diskless client using bootROM to terminal server, But i dont know the required configurations,settings and tools. you will probably have to change the BIOS setting to allow it to boot to the NIC after that you will need to have an IP address for the client and the information of the server you want to connect to, IP address subnet mask etc.

Some advice regarding TCAS?

I am a student and am doing a research paper on TCAS. Am a little confused. As its a research paper, am i supposed to take up on the drawbacks of the system and propose remedies?

If so, here are a list of drawbacks and recommendations for TCAS..

1.Y axis movements only – ground proximity problems

2.The info regarding the RA provided to the aircrafts, can be passed onto ATC
3.TCAS equipment today is often primarily range-based, as such it only displays the traffic situation within a configurable range of miles/feet, however under certain circumstances a "time-based" representation (i.e. within the next xx minutes) might be more intuitive.
4.Unwanted info is passed, thereby increasing usage of the 1030, 1090 MHz band

Any other recommendations? And which of these should i proceed with?
What sort of unwanted info is passed? And i need to proceed with this paper, in relevance to Electronics.... So what do i do?

You should also look into the future of TCAS, such as improvements that TCAS III will contain such as horizontal movements.

Also TCAS has another drawback: it's very expensive from 30,000 to 150,000 dollars.

You should proceed with all of those, they are good topics to discuss.

Why can't pilots avoid mid-air collisions?

Isn't TCAS supposed to prevent mid-air collisions with another aircraft? Off the top of my head I can think of 2 instances when a crash happened because pilots failed to obey TCAS orders. Pilots are supposed to be taught that no matter what ATC tells them, TCAS has the final say. Still these crashes happen. Why?

human error mostly, or conflicting information, or mechanical failure. murphy law "if it can break, it will" humans also fall into that category

american pilots are taught to obey TCAS no matter what. however pilots of other nationalities may not be or, because of tradition do not.
this is the case of the American 757 colliding with a Ilyushin. the American pilots, obeying TCAS, descended but the Russian pilots, more accustomed to obeying a human, in this case, the ATC ordered them to descend also. this led to the mid air collision.
human error, on the part of the Russian pilots and the ATC who was having his radar repaired and who was doing the job of 2 ATCs.

another collision i can readily think of is when a piper single engined aircraft took the tail off a DC-9. that was because the single engined plane's pilot was lost and it had a very basic transponder which meant the ATC did not get any altitude data. Neither did the TCAS of the Dc-9
mechanical error/human fault

another case, not a mid air collision, but nearly. two 747s collided because the pilots on one aircraft mistook a controller direction for permission to take off. again communication error

TCAS does not have the final say. its a good rule, that all pilots should obey TCAS but
"dying right does not make you any less dead"

so i guess, whoever took the action and came out alive has the final say.

visual avoidance is easy when your in a small aircraft but it is a lot harder when you are flying a commercial jet because of the limited visibility you have and the speed at which two oncoming aircraft are flying at.
commercial airliners fly IFR, or Instrument Flight Rules. Most of the time, the pilots are looking at their instruments, not outside. throw in a malfunctioning transponder, which means that TCAS will not display a warning, and there you go, a mid-air collision. (this was the case of a brand new embraer legacy jet and a boeing 737 flown by GLO airlines)
even if pilots do look outside, depending on aircraft speed, the combined closure rate could be greater than 1000knots. This means the pilots will have less than 15 seconds to decide what to do and do it. many times, close collisions have gone unnoticed by either pilots and are only found later when ATC records are examined.
studies indicated that average pilots take 4 seconds to see something, and decide that the thing is coming directly towards you. Most of the time, since you are not expecting to see something coming towards you at cruising altitude, your brain may take even longer to decide or you may think that you were mistaken. there are many false readings and false sightings so everyone likes to be sure before putting the aircraft and the people on board through a violent aerial maneuver.

Excel - Only Print if specific cells have been updated?

Hi all,

I am working on a company wide template and as you have guessed am working on 2008 schedules. In 2007 the template in question was not always filled out correctly and hence was wrong. Is there a way of telling excel if, say cell F4, G10 and J25 remains blank then to not print the page, and have a message pop up stating cell F4, G10 & J25 needs to be compleated? Once complete, then the page can printed if the user wants it to. I am not a VB programmer so any VB code required for which I can just copy and paste would be fantastic.

What do you and Dad butt heads about, regarding baby?

Go on, get your rant on...

My man thinks a diaper change is the ultimate solution to all fussy baby issues. Whenever our son makes an unhappy peep, he rushes him to the changing table. This is especially problematic since we switched to cloth, and I have a nice little system down, where I have just enough diapers to get through the day. There's a few extras for emergency purposes, but when he changes the diaper, it is rarely an emergency! Then, he gets all disappointed when baby fails to be soothed after his diaper change- probably because he was hungry, not wet, but whatever...

So that, and he's over-paranoid. He doesn't like baby to be on our worn-out carpet. He checks the ozone thingie on the Weather Channel before taking baby outside. He thinks every red mark baby gets on his skin is an incurable rash...you get the idea. We don't really "butt heads", but it gets annoying!

My husband and I just butted heads last night......ugh.

My 20 month old has decided that she wants to live in her pouch sling. Which would be fine, except I really need a carrier that would enable me to have my hands free....plus I've been having some issues with my pouch sling becoming increasingly uncomfortable for me.
So, I've been looking around (mostly on ebay) for a new carrier, one that is made more for a toddler than a baby. Since my husband is in Iraq at this time, I try to keep him informed about what's going on with our daughter. And last night I mentioned how I was on the look-out for a new carrier.....

My husband then informed me that I was " trying to keep our daughter a baby...she knows how to walk, so there's no need to carry her everywhere.....she's going to be clingy and not move out of our house until she's 30......and I'm treating our daughter like an infant because I want another baby.....!!!!!"

Jeez. I tried to explain that wearing baby (and/or toddler) actually *helps* the child be secure, but he wasn't having any of it. I finally told him that he needed to research what attachment parenting/baby wearing was all about, and signed off......LOL. Of course the morning, he's completely over the entire argument while I'm still peeved..... Just like a man.

Okay, I'm done now. Thanks for the opportunity to rant....LOL
