Engine Oil
What can be the possible reasons for engine oil depletion in a new car that has run only 3407 kms?
Its a Wagon R LX 2009 model. In the first service they had changed the engine oil. However, I did not check the level then. In the second service they dont change the oil. Yesterday, after 3 months of second service, I found the engine oil less by 500 ml. It's not leaking. Running is cool & flawless.
roughly a quart consumption every 3000 miles is normal if not nearly unavoidable. given that the valves are lubricated by oil and the pistons are also given the same treatment, a little is left behind on the cylinder walls or on the valve train to be combined with the air/fuel charge. this mixture is obviously burned. 500 ml is not that muck is it? if you are running synthetic, it can leak faster given the composition of the oil itself. most manufacturers agree that a quart every 3000 miles is normal.
