Does an FAA class 2 medical exam test for drugs?

This fall I have to take this test to get into flight school and I was just curious if anyone knows if theres a drug test involved in the medical exam. I know you have to do a urine test but ive read that its just to test for diseases and ive also read that it can test for drugs. Not that I have to worry but if anyone knows that would be great, all your answers will help thanks.

I believe that it should test for drugs and probably does test for drugs./

Sport Pilot Checkride: A Guide to Passing the FAA Practical Flight & Oral Exam

Sport Pilot Checkride: A Guide to Passing the FAA Practical Flight & Oral Exam

$16.91

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) checkride for sport pilots consists of two aspects--an oral questioning and a flight check--and this reference prepares readers for passing the certification process for three types of light sport aircraft (LSA)--airplane, weight-shift control, and powered parachute--as well as for Sport Pilot Instructor and the biennial Flight Review. The information offered gives students the help they need by listing the questions from the oral questioning portion of the exam and providing succinct, easy-to-follow responses. Continuing with practical checklists, tips, and techniques readers can use during the in-flight portion of the test, this guidebook is an indispensable tool in both planning for what to expect when tested and for mastering the subject matter needed to pass.

Flight training books?

Considering I am going to start flight training at ATP soon, I want to be prepared. I want to get all my written's out of the way. Are the Gleim books the best source for FAA knowledge tests? Also what other books should I purchase before I start my flight training at ATP?
Did I ask for your opinion on ATP? All you trolls get out of here, you don't know what you're saying.

You are paying atp a set rate to go through their program. If you go out and buy your own books you are just adding to your bill. You will spend less time learning in the class room, but you won't see a huge benefit from it.

With that being said, I do fully support you wanting to go out and educate yourself. In your situation I'd buy two books right now. I'd get the FAA airplane flying handbook and the Gleim private pilot written test book. If you read through and understand the FAA book you will be able to skim through the Gleim book just to get familiar with the questions and how the test looks.

If you want to save some dinero the airplane flying handbook is online and you can use an online test site like exams for pilots. It is the exact same information, just online rather than in print.

Do keep in mind that the written test is included in the price (or should be) at ATP, but it is $150 if you take it on your own. It will be the exact same test either way.

I don't think I'd be doing you any justice if I didn't tell you or at least remind you that there are other options out there aside from ATP. They do have a good program and they do a great job at marketing it. It is also absurdly expensive. A local flight school can get you through in the same amount of time, with the same or better quality of instruction at about 60-75% of the cost. Of the big schools, I like ATP, but I only say that for their instrument/commercial/cfi program. And I only say that because they let you build multi time and they have the ability to get you an interview with an airline when you otherwise may not get one. That is the good part. I have known and flown with people who have came out of ATP and they were awful pilots. They had a lot of multi time, and on paper they look great, but they couldn't fly an airplane...Maybe that is the person, maybe it is the school, I don't know and I'm not going to say it was the school's fault for teaching the person poorly. I will say it was the schools fault for not telling that person they have no business in an airplane.

I have been to a big flight school before, and I wish I could do it all over again and fly at local flight clubs and get top notch instruction at half the price.
