Made Mile
What is a good mile run time for a 220 pound 16 year-old male?

I weight 220 pounds and I am a 16 year-old male. I just ran a mile in 12:24. The last time a recorded a mile run was two years ago, I weighed 270 pounds then and I ran the mile in 15:10. I would like to know other peoples opinions on if I made good progress since then, now 50 pounds lighter.

Do the math yourself, you lost 50 pounds and decreased your speed by 2 minutes and 46 seconds per mile. That is good, congrats on that. As others said, it does depend on your height and how physical/active you are. If you play video games all day, thats an even better time. I am 23, 190 lbs and 6' 3". I run half marathons at a pace just over 8:30 per mile. But I also train every day for it. At your age, it is up to you to decide if you want to improve your time, how much you would want to improve it, and how fast you would want to make the change.

The Green Mile

Director Frank Darabont, who made an acclaimed feature film debut with The Shawshank Redemption (1994), based on a Stephen King novel set in a prison, returns for a second feature, based on King's 1996 serialized novel set in a prison. In 1935, inmates at the Cold Mountain Correctional Facility call Death Row "The Green Mile" because of the dark green linoleum that tiles the floor. Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) is the head guard on the Green Mile when a new inmate is brought into his custody: John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), convicted of the sadistic murder of two young girls. Despite his size and the fearsome crimes for which he's serving time, Coffey seems to be a kind and well-mannered person who behaves more like an innocent child than a hardened criminal. Soon Edgecomb and two of his fellow guards, Howell (David Morse) and Stanton Barry Pepper), notice something odd about Coffey: he's able to perform what seem to be miracles of healing among his fellow inmates, leading them to wonder just what sort of person he could be, and if he could have committed the crimes with which he was charged. The Green Mile also stars James Cromwell as the warden; Michael Jeter, Sam Rockwell, and Graham Greene as inmates awaiting dates with the electric chair; and Harry Dean Stanton as a clever trustee. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

How electromagnetism causes electric shock?

When a radio is operated on the top branch of a tree it causes a man`s death.The top of a tree there is a high potential Electric line passing.

This would be because the radio had an antenna in the tree.

If the tree moved enough in the wind, or maybe grew taller, the antenna could touch the power lines.

The antenna is a conductor of electricity, so it could conduct the dangerous high voltage down to the radio. Now, if the man touched a metal part of the radio, and he provided a path to earth, he could easily get killed.

Nothing to do with electromagnetism, though.

Rated: RSynopsis: This horror film concerns a shipwrecked yachting party. Rose (Brooke Adams) and her fellow yacht-mates, including the captain (John Carradine) run aground on an island when they hit an odd-looking freighter. Once beached, they meet up with an aging SS Commander (Peter Cushing) who had been in charge of a crew of zombies. This is not meant as a comment on the quality of the men under him, they were "real" zombies. Since the zombies were taken from the ranks of murderers and other miscreants, they were not activated and the SS Commander sunk them with his submarine. Herbie Hancock completely overhauled his sound and conquered MTV with his most radical step forward since the sextet days. He brought in Bill Laswell of Material as producer, along with Grand Mixer D.ST on turntables -- and the immediate result was "Rockit," which makes quite a post-industrial metallic racket. Frankly, the whole record is an enigma; for all of its dehumanized, mechanized textures and rigid rhythms, it has a vitality and sense of humor that make it difficult to turn off. Moreover, Herbie can't help but inject a subversive funk element when he comps along to the techno beat -- and yes, some real, honest-to-goodness jazz licks on a grand piano show up in the middle of "Auto Drive." ~ Richard S. Ginell, Rovi Performers: Michael Beinhorn - Electronic Drums, Shortwave Radio, Dmx, Prophet 5, Mini Moog, Keyboards, Synthesizer, Drums; Daniel Ponce - Bota, Bata, Percussion; Grandmixer D.ST - Turntables, Voices, Vocals (Background), Vocals; Herbie Hancock - Rhythm Machine, Fairlight CMI, Vocorder, Clavichord, Computers, Vocoder, DX-7, Mini Moog, Emulator, Clavinet, Fender Rhodes, Sound Effects, Keyboards, Synthesizer, Vocals, Piano; Rhodes Chroma - Moog Synthesizer; Toshinori Kondo - Speech/Speaker/Speaking Part;

Building the Team RadioShack Trek Madone

If i turn a radio higher does that mean that it is sucking more electricity?

I am trying to design a wire that could cause an electric shock (its hypothetical, for a book I am writing). Can I simply attach a potentiometer to a wire and then attach a wire to that potentiometer so that I can adjust how high or low the amperage (and thus the shock) would be?

If I attach another wire to a radio, will adjusting the volume on the radio also regulate how high the shock would be?

Well, for every three decibel gain in volume, you have to double the power.
