Aircraft Radio Control

Why are more men interested in flight than women?
I've noticed that many more men seem fascinated by flight than women. In particular, in my favorite hobby of flying radio controlled aircraft, there are no females that I've ever seen participating in it. I've often wondered, why is this so? Even with younger kids, the boys seem much more interested in watching me fly my planes then the girls are. There must be a gender factor at work here, yes?
Well, of course I'd rather be flying a real plane or helicopter, with me in it! Do you think I'm crazy? But where am I going to get the money for flight school?
Although, with all the money I've spent on my model planes over the years, I probably could have learned to fly a real one. But I would never have been able to hide that expense from my wife.
I'm not sure, but I'm sure it correlates with the gender divide between ballet for girls and basketball for boys, etc. There are obviously female basketball players and male ballet dancers, just few and far between.
I'm sure there are women who enjoy this hobby, somewhere.

Aircraft Flight Control System $63.73 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A conventional fixedwing aircraft flight control system consists of flight control surfaces, the respective cockpit controls, connecting linkages, and the necessary operating mechanisms to control an aircrafts direction in flight. Aircraft engine controls are also considered as flight controls as they change speed. The fundamentals of aircraft controls are explained in flight dynamics. This article centers on the operating mechanisms of the flight controls. Radio Control $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Radio control (often abbreviated to R/C or simply RC) is the use of radio signals to remotely control a device. The term is used frequently to refer to the control of model vehicles from a handheld radio transmitter. Industrial, military, and scientific research organizations make use of radiocontrolled vehicles as well. In 1898 at an exhibition at Madison Square Garden Nikola Tesla demonstrated a small boat which could apparently obey commands from the audience but was in fact controlled by Tesla interpreting the verbal requests and sending appropriate frequencies to tuned circuits in the boat. He was granted a US patent on this invention on November 8, 1898. In 1903, the Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres y Quevedo presented the Telekino at the Paris Academy of Science, and was granted a patent in France, Spain, Great Britain and the United States. Flying Radio-controlled Model Aircraft (Paperback) $39.17 Flying radio-controlled model aircraft is one of the most enjoyable and absorbing hobbies that there is. It combines the fun of building and maintaining a real miniature aircraft with the challenge of flying it just like the real thing, and keeping the appropriate distance between the aircraft and the ground at all times! But the early stages of the hobby can be a steep learning curve, and it is all too easy to be put off by early mishaps. This book explains the principles of model flight in an easy-to-read text. It is a flight manual for any pilot of a fixed-wing model aircraft and includes details of internal combustion and electric-powered flight. It gives all the information required to become a successful pilot in the shortest possible time. |

Elevator (Aircraft) $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Elevators are control surfaces, usually at the rear of an aircraft, which control the aircrafts orientation by changing the pitch of the aircraft, and so also the angle of attack of the wing. In simplified terms, they make the aircraft noseup or nosedown. An increased wing angle of attack will cause a greater lift to be produced by the profile of the wing, and a slowing of the aircraft speed. A decrease in angle of attack will produce an increase in speed. The elevators may be the only pitch control surface present, or may be hinged to a fixed or adjustable surface called a tailplane or horizontal stabilizer. The rear wing to which elevators are attached have the opposite effect to a wing. They usually create a downward pressure which counters the unbalanced moment due to the airplanes center of gravity not being located exactly on the resulting centre of pressure, which in addition to the lift generated by the main wing includes the effects of drag and engine thrust. An elevator decreases or increases the downward force created by the rear wing. Worlds Largest Model RC Plane
I am building a RC aircraft, and am wondering which radio frequency has the greatest range.?
I have a small gas engine, and am looking to make an RC airplane with a camera for aerial photography(preferably video also). Any advice on how to transmit the video signal back to a laptop or similar other screen? If possible, I would also like to be able to control the aircraft from a computer.
only certain frequencies are allowed. The reference gives a list.
approximate values are 27 MHz, 50.9 MHz, 72 MHz, 75 MHz
