Bleed Air Valve

how can i bleed the excess air out of my radiator?

I can't seem to find the bleed valve that is usually on the top of the radiator. I was just at an auto parts store and the guy there couldn't find it either. he mentioned that if I took the cap off the radiator and ran it for a while that it would work. Will that work? and for how long do I run the car for? thanks!
i have a 1996 honda passport v6 3.2 liter...but the radiator is after market. i just replaced the thermostat so i want to make sure i get all the air out.
thanks for all the help guys...i'm pretty sure i got it. i'll run it tomorrow morning with the cap off one more time until the thermostat has opened...but i drove it for about 15 minutes tonight with not temp gauge fluctuation.

actually if your system is working correctly you do not need to worry about the air, if you recently changed the coolant, and the car is cold, start the car with the cap off, let the car idle and warm up good, once the thermostat opens and the fluid starts to circulate and steam rev the engine several times, gently, up to three thousand rpm or so, then put the cap on, make sure the overflow has coolant, and take a 10 minute drive, if the car overheats it may still have an air bubble, park it, and let it cool down, check on the coolant level, as the radiator cools vacuum will pull water from the overflow filling empty space with coolant. If you have a really old radiator cap replace it, they do go bad. as long as fluid level in overflow is dropping, your system is working correctly, just keep coolant in the overflow. You can start up the car drive it for ten or fifteen minuets around the block several times stay close to home but accelerate off of corners and try to get some rpm up this will move the coolant and help get rid of air bubbles. park the car, let it cool down, at some point when coolant level in overflow is stable and radiator is cool open cap, the coolant should be right close to the top. some older radiator caps had that vent, this was not to let air out, it was to vent pressure when hot, WHICH IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA, AND THEY PRETTY MUCH NO LONGER DO IT THAT WAY, ITS SMARTER TO WAIT AN HOUR OR SO AND LET THE CAR COOL OFF, MUCH LESS BURN INJURIES THAT WAY.

Car Repair & Maintenance : How to Bleed Air From Brakes



After filling tire with air at a gas station, my tire started releasing the air from the valve - HELP!?

I filled my tires up with air at the gas station tonight, and just as I was finishing filling my last tire, I removed the dispenser, and my tire was bleeding out air, as if the center pin in the valve stem was being pressed down (but it wasnt).

I tried putting the dispenser back onto the valve to fill it up, and again, once removed, it started releasing air.

What could have happened to cause this?? (note: i did not over fill)

Something has caused the center of the valve core to stick in the depressed position. You will probably have to replace it.
