Why does my engine sound like its struggling?

Vauxhall Corsa 1.5TD L Reg (1993)
When driving over 60MPH the engine sounds like its revving really high or struggling, but revometer reads ok, gear changes are fine and temperature is fine.
The noise is quite similar to a light aircraft in flight LOL.
I dont think this problem is transmission because the engine is not ''screaming'' it just sounds like its working really really hard.
Any Ideas? Oh by the way budget is limited so taking into a garage isnt an option at the moment LOL
It had a FULL service 6 weeks ago.
it passed MOT in april.
i dont undertand the answers that contain stuff about AC. Presuably they mean Air Conditioning, but this is an L reg corsa (1993) it doesnt have AC. It has heaters and fans but not AC

make sure turbo working ok. but it does sound like your air conditioning they can sound like that.

What is this movie? I don't remember what it was about.?

All I remember was that a military aircraft couldn't land because they couldn't get the gear down or the tires where blown. And some guy drew a picture of the plane with the front landing gear down. And cartoon like landing gear appeared on the aircraft and it landed safely. That's all I remember of it. and its driving me nuts

Written and directed by Spielberg himself, "The Mission" is an hour-long debut episode of the series. It's the tragic story of a team of World War II soldiers in a fighter plane and the turret gunner who, after a nasty collision with an enemy fighter jet, gets trapped underneath the belly of the plane. The landing gear is damaged and since the plane is also low on fuel and engine power, a horrific fate awaits the belly-gunner just as soon as the plane lands. Kevin Costner stars as the captain of the crew, while Kiefer Sutherland also plays one of soldiers. Rather than give you a more thorough synopsis of the episode (I don't want to give any hints or spoil anything), I'll just be informing you that its themes deal with belief, determination, never giving up, and the power of imagination.

NOTE: Although IMDb refers to it as Episode 5, I recall this being the debut episode of "Amazing Stories". I'll have to look into this.
