Driven Fuel Pump
What kind of fuel pump is the best Quality?
I have a 1991 Caprice with a 5.0 engine. My fuel pump is starting to ware out after 80,000 miles of use. I dont need a high performance fuel pump as I drive the car like a little old lady!. However, I want a fuel pump that will meet or exceed the OEM standards for my car and last a long time.The car is used only for driving to work or the store. I will be replacing the pump myself this weekend so any advise would be appreciate!. Thanks for your answers!!!!
Just get a standard pump from O'Reillys or AutoZone. The pumps only come in standard or high performance. No need to get the high performance one if you are not gonna use it for that.

How do i know if my fuel pump is the wrong one?
I drive a 1974 Super Beetle and the previous owner replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one. The fuel pump also randomly clicks REALLY loud when the battery is turned on. Would it be better to replace it with a mechanical one?
Replace it with a mechanical fuel pump and it wont be so loud.

From GM as an FYI: ” High Pressure Cam-Driven Fuel Pump A high-pressure, cam-driven pump provides the fuel pressure required of the 2.0L Turbo’s direct injection system. The engine mounted fuel pump is augmented by a conventional electrically operated supply pump in the fuel tank. The fuel delivery system features a high-pressure stainless steel feed line and a pressure-regulated fuel rail, without a conventional fuel return line from the engine to the tank. Fuel pressure varies from about 750 psi at idle to 2,250 psi at wide-open throttle.”
