Car Amplifier Installation?

G'day to all. I have an existing 6" car subwoofer with buil in amp. I have upgraded to 12" and bought new amplifier. Everything works well as I fallowed the company manual instruction to install it and including bridging system, that also includes me rear speakers, which I connect to my amplifier. The thing is, if I turn on me engine, there's a funny sound coming out on me rear speaker. But If I turn off the engine and just play music it works fine. Could somebody help me solve this one. TA...
Thanks for giving me some tips, mate. But the whining sound doesn't go up or down when I rev me car. It just stay steady, and it's annoying.

if the noise is a whine that goes up and down with the rpm, than the speaker wires are routed too close to a power wire, either an existing one in the car or the power wire for the amp, try relocating it or using shielded wires
