Crash Of Flight 447 $14.63 Rated: NASynopsis: On June 1st, 2009, Flight AF447, an Air France Airbus A330 flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean with the loss of all 228 lives. How could a state-of-the-art airliner with elaborate electronic safety and navigation features and a faultless safety record simply vanish without trace? NOVA assembles a team of seasoned pilots, engineers and safety experts to examine the evidence that emerged in the weeks following this horrific disaster. What led Flight 447's crew to fly straight into a towering thunderstorm? Using expert testimony, messages transmitted by the doomed plane's computer system, and multi-layered CGI weather reconstructions, NOVA pieces together the events leading up to the disaster and provides a forensic view of crucial events seen from all angles to reveal what really happened on Flight 447. |

Flight Data Recorder $105.14 A flight data recorder (FDR) (also ADR, for accident data recorder) is a kind of flight recorder. It is a device used to record specific aircraft performance parameters. Another kind of flight recorder is the cockpit voice recorder (CVR), which records conversation in the cockpit, radio communications between the cockpit crew and others (including conversation with air traffic control personnel), as well as ambient sounds. In some cases, both functions have been combined into a single unit. Popularly referred to as a black box, the data recorded by the FDR is used for accident investigation, as well as for analyzing air safety issues, material degradation and engine performance. Due to their importance in investigating accidents, these ICAOregulated devices are carefully engineered and stoutly constructed to withstand the force of a high speed impact and the heat of an intense fire. Contrary to the black box reference, the exterior of the FDR is coated with heatresistant bright orange paint for high visibility in wreckage, and the unit is usually mounted in the aircrafts empennage (tail section), where it is more likely to survive a severe crash. All Nippon Airways Flight 60 $89.22 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. All Nippon Airways Flight 60 was a Boeing 72781 aircraft that crashed on February 4, 1966. All 133 passengers and crew were killed when the aircraft crashed into Tokyo Bay about 10.4 km from Tokyos Haneda International Airport in clear weather conditions while on a night approach. The accident held the death toll record for a singleplane incident until 1969. The aircraft carried 126 passengers and a crew of seven. Most of the passengers were returning from the annual winter carnival at Chitose, 600 miles north of Tokyo and point of origin for the flight. Flying in clear weather, the AllNippon Airway plane was minutes away from Tokyo Airport when its pilot radioed he would land visually without instruments. Then the airliner vanished from radar screens Author: Bert, Adam Cornelius Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 116 Publication Date: 2011/05/14 Language: English Dimensions: 9.02 x 5.98 x 0.28 inches |
